Casein and watercolor, 2011
The textures come from an ink resist method. I first painted in white gouache and then covered that in waterproof ink. The gouache was then washed off in water to leave the ink in an effect a little like lithography. From there, it was painted with watercolor and casein.

This was one of my caseins where I did major revisions – the background was originally a pretty abstract landscape. I may post a photo of that so you can see the capabilities of casein to make alterations.
